At OCG Companies, we’ve always believed that community involvement and giving back are key to making a lasting impact. That’s why we were thrilled to not only sponsor but also dedicate two full days of volunteering for Life Remodeled’s Six Day Project—a transformative event that brings together thousands of volunteers to revitalize and restore Detroit neighborhoods.
For those unfamiliar, Life Remodeled’s Six Day Project is a massive, annual effort where volunteers from across the region spend six intense days working in neighborhoods to improve homes and public spaces. The mission is simple but powerful: unite communities and offer tangible, hands-on help to make the city a better place to live for all. This year, we were proud to be part of that mission.
Our team arrived full of energy and ready to make a difference. Over the two days, we got our hands dirty picking up garbage from streets, mowing lawns for residents who needed a helping hand, and landscaping sidewalks to create more walkable, welcoming spaces. With every bag of trash collected and every lawn mowed, we could see the immediate impact we were making, not only in terms of physical transformation but also in uplifting the spirits of the community.
One of the highlights of our experience was connecting with the neighborhood residents. Whether it was a simple wave, a thank you, or a quick conversation while we worked, it was clear that our efforts were appreciated and made a real difference. Volunteering in the heart of these neighborhoods gave us a chance to see firsthand the pride residents have for their community and reinforced why projects like this are so important.
And, of course, no community service project is complete without a few surprises. As we worked, we were joined by some companions: a group of friendly local dogs.
Volunteering with Life Remodeled’s Six Day Project wasn’t just about beautifying the neighborhood—it was about building connections, strengthening communities, and making new friends along the way (both human and canine!). It gave our team a chance to bond and collaborate outside of the office, working toward a common goal that was greater than any one of us. Together, we were part of something bigger: a movement to create positive change and support Detroit’s bright future.
In addition to volunteering, our role as a sponsor of the project is something we’re incredibly proud of. Sponsorship allowed us to contribute in a more profound way, helping to provide the resources necessary for Life Remodeled to continue its impactful work.
This experience reaffirmed our company’s commitment to making a positive impact, not only in the industries we serve but also in the communities where we live and work. OCG Companies believes in the importance of giving back, and we are dedicated to supporting initiatives like Life Remodeled that make a meaningful, lasting difference.
As we look to the future, we’re excited to continue our partnership with Life Remodeled and remain deeply involved in their efforts to transform Detroit neighborhoods. We encourage everyone—individuals, businesses, and organizations alike—to consider getting involved. Whether through volunteering or sponsoring, there are so many ways to be part of this incredible project.
The Six Day Project showed us that when communities come together with a shared purpose, incredible things can happen. Let’s keep working toward a stronger, more vibrant future for Detroit, one project at a time. Together, we can make a lasting impact and ensure that every neighborhood thrives.
We’re already looking forward to joining forces with Life Remodeled again for more days of hard work, collaboration, and community building. If you’d like to learn more about how to get involved or support the cause, visit Life Remodeled's website.
